Decorative Basket Craft with Doilies – Perfect for Any Occasion
This decorative basket filled with colorful tissue will make a perfect centerpiece. Or use it as a party favor to hold your favorite treats.
This decorative basket is easy to make and looks beautiful on any table. You can fill it with colorful tissue paper to create a lovely centerpiece, or use it as a party favor to hold small treats, candies, or gifts.
To make your own basket, you will need a few simple materials: one Royal Lace® medallion doily, a pencil, scissors, a ruler, cardboard, stiff paper, and tape or glue. You can also add a ribbon for extra decoration, if you like.
The steps are simple: trace the shape, cut it out, fold the paper, and glue the parts together. In just a few minutes, you’ll have a charming basket that’s perfect for any occasion!
Materials Needed:
- 1 Royal Lace® medallion doily
- pencil
- scissors
- ruler
- cardboard
- stiff paper
- tape or glue
- ribbon(optional)
Directions:
- Place doily face down on a flat surface
- Cut a 4-1/2” square from cardboard and place in the center of the doily (FIG. A)
- One at a time, fold each side over the cardboard, crease and unfold again (FIG. B)
- Once you have creased each side, stand them all up to create a box as shown. Tuck the corners in and tape or glue them to the inside of the basket/ Fold all corners in the same direction for a neat appearance (FIG. C)
- To make a handle, cut a 8” long, ¾” wide strip to the inside of the basket (FIG. D)
